About April

Like many people, April Reign has used music to enhance her life and those around her. She was born in Victoria, BC to a musical family, growing up on the East and West coasts of Canada. As a child on the East Coast, she absorbed the culture and musical nature of the Maritimes. Encouraged by her grandfather, who helped found The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts in Summerside, PEI, she continued to grow as a performer returning to the West Coast, singing all genres of music. While living in Victoria, she was part of many acts and won numerous competitions and awards. April has been privileged to open shows for some great North American talents including Tom Cochrane, Colin James, Johnny Reid, George Canyon, Little Big Town, Toby Keith, and Dierks Bentley just to name a few.

April has many musical accomplishments, including finishing in the 'Top 10' at the Red Robinson’s BC Talent Search, being a repeat finalist in Victoria Idol for seven years, and winning Best Live Act at the Vancouver Island Music Awards. Subsequently, she was elected to be a juror the following year. She has sung national anthems for many countries during sporting events like the BC Lions, Vancouver Whitecaps, World Softball Championship, and the Western Hockey League. Ms. Reign has been an artist at the Halifax Beatles Festival, Rockin' River Music Festival, Sunfest Country Festival, and the Calgary Stampede including the Coca Cola Stage. These shows were so well received she was invited back to perform on multiple occasions.

Since moving to the lower mainland from Victoria, April has expanded her musical ventures significantly, performing and recording with acts such as Chris Buck, The Rollin' Trainwreck, Melody Lovejoy, and recording with the Hillside Outlaws. As part of Derek Pitts and the Bullets, April provided the essential backup vocals and harmonies during performances, on their debut album, and their music video for "Trouble" released in 2018.These events culminated in April being signed to MyTone Records in the fall of 2018 until early 2020. Reign's current main focus is her solo project, featuring her own written music. She performs originals and covers across all genres as an intimate duo or an entire band.

The release of April's first single “Falling off the Earth”, received Top 10 Most Active Indie Artists across Canada, and Top 5 Most Downloaded Country Songs in Canada. This was followed by receiving four nominations for the BC Country Music Awards including Female Artist of the Year and the Ray McAuley New Horizon Award. Just prior to Covid April was working with multi-award-winning producer Mitch Merrett, to record her follow-up singles. Now that things are starting to return to normal again she is excited to get back into the studio and work on her first EP. Be on the lookout for new music coming soon!

Whether singing harmonies live or in-studio, or creating originals for her project, April is a consummate singer, artist, and by all definitions a true performer.
